Why do we have conferences?
- It gives a set time to facilitates communication between students, parents, and the school.
- It assists students in planning, monitoring, and managing their own learning, as well as their personal and career development.
- It encourages students and their parents to be engaged in their education.
- It provides opportunities to set and evaluate educational, career, and life goals.
What do Conferences Include?
- It is a 45-60 minute meeting between the student, parent(s) and counselor to discuss future dreams, goals, and career plans.
- A time to build a positive dialogue between school and parents.
- A time where all parties share information about students’ strengths, interests, abilities, and potential.
- A session to provide information and resources available through the school and community.
- A time to help facilitate students to identify, plan, and evaluate educational and career goals.
- A chance to assist students to transition to the next phase of their lives.
- Each conference focuses specifically on what the parent and student need to know for the next step in their education and career planning.
