Marshall Elementary is a school-wide Title I school. This means that we integrate our Federal, State and local services to provide a comprehensive instructional design strategy that helps every student achieve high levels of academic success. At Marshall Elementary our comprehensive system of support includes classroom instruction that is standards-based and personalized to challenge each learner. Support teachers including bilingual resource, talented and gifted, special education and instructional coaches work collaboratively with classroom teachers to ensure academic growth for every child. Qualitative and quantitative data informs instructional decisions and teachers flexibly group students to provide the explicit instruction and feedback necessary to intensify student learning.
Students who need additional support beyond core instruction receive an additional 30 minutes of intensified and focused instruction daily. During Cardinal Time teachers with expertise in math and literacy provide targeted and intensified instruction to students with the greatest need while classroom teachers provide for on-level students. Every six weeks Cardinal Time groups are re-evaluated and adjusted to maintain academic, behavioral or social support that meets the identified needs of students in a timely manner.
Parent involvement is a critical component of academic success. Marshall Elementary School encourages parent involvement in many ways through monthly events including family game night, family literacy night, movie night , science night, and other fun, and academically supportive events. These events encourage children and parents to interact with the school in ways that build relationships and understanding. Book Fairs, concerts, and Literacy Network events allow parents access to information and learning that supports school goals. Additionally, each spring, the district and school share achievement and goals at a Community Forum. This forum is open to everyone in the Marshall community, with special invitations sent to district families. At this forum input is gathered that guides decision-making throughout the year.
Watch for upcoming events and join us this Spring for the Community Forum.
